All my thanks to those who helped with my holiday project this year! My friends, family, and I pooled together $1000!

The Objective

December 14th, 2009

My prime directive is to gather funds to buy gifts from the
World Vision Christmas Catalogue.

They are all critical for the health and education of children in
developing countries.

School Supplies

School Supplies

In poor countries, many children don’t go to school because their parents can’t afford basic supplies. Let’s pitch in to buy books, art materials, pencils, paper, notebooks, rulers and more. It’s a great way to open doors of opportunity for children living in poverty.

Medical Supplies

Medical Clinic Supplies

Let’s help provide basic medicines to children and families in impoverished areas of the world where hospital and health clinic shelves are often bare. We can send basic medicines like antibiotics, antimalarials, de-worming drugs, vitamins, aspirin, bandages, syringes, and more.

Mosquito Nets

Mosquito Nets

These safety nets can protect children from a potentially deadly enemy—malaria-bearing mosquitoes. Malaria kills a child in Africa every 30 seconds. Treated mosquito nets like these are a proven solution that can help save the lives African children.

Soccer Balls

Soccer Balls

For girls and boys around the world, real soccer balls are rare. At the sight of one, shouts of excitement erupt and a game instantly begins. Lets help kids have some fun too!

The story of my family tradition!

December 11th, 2009

Two years ago, I decided to give up Christmas. Tired of telling my family members what to buy me, I started asking for charitable donations instead. As a child sponsor for World Vision, I encouraged my family to dedicate their gift giving funds to the purchase of World Vision Christmas Catalog gifts instead. Everyone agreed to try it out.

Free from the stress of buying everyone gifts, we found ourselves enjoying the holidays more. On Christmas Day, we were more focused on enjoying activities together. Instead of unwrapping gift after gift, we all sat down at the dinner table and thought about what we’d like to give to those less fortunate in developing countries.
